There's a cultural narrative slowly grinding away at us.
It tells us our value as people is directly tied to our productivity. It whispers that if we aren't producing or consuming, we're wasting our time.
It suggests that 'Play' is something kids do.
A luxury for those with free time, to be pursued only when the work is done.
"Engaging in activity for enjoyment rather than practical purpose, especially by children."
Something to be left behind with our youth and looked forward to only on hard earned vacations or an eventual retirement.
Old Kids is a personal portrait series rooted in characters who reject that narrative. Characters who understand the importance of play - how it keeps us grounded, connected, and youthful as we navigate the complexities of our lives.
Characters I admire for keeping the playfulness of their inner child alive, no matter the number of years creeping in.
